| Description: A temporary Derbyshire well dressing display traditionally made from vegetation pressed into clay held in a wooden frame but now often incorporating pebbles, beads etc. The single-panel oblong dressing had a depiction of an infantryman with a rifle standing near to a battlefield grave marker silhouetted against a setting sun and with the inscription in red upright capital block lettering. To each side the names were listed on two white columns in black upright capital lettering. The frame was further decorated with knitted or crotcheted red poppies. Glossary |
