Location details:
The Green is a paved access road leading to a supermarket car park and several commercial properties. The memorial is at the southern end of this area, just behind the western footway of North Rd and adjoining the war memorial figure.

Overall type: Garden of remembrance. Overall condition: Very Good. The memorial is cared for.


Description:

A paved seating area, surrounded by railings and four curved walls. In addition to benches, the area contains a sculpture and planters, and the walls each bear an inset tablet depicting the work of Clowne residents during wartime. The poppy-inspired red sandstone sculpture is in four separate quadrants, each representing a single petal, and has further poppies in relief on the undulating upper surface.

History and Conservation
26th February, 2015: Bolsover District Council announced the construction of the garden of remembrance with paving, walls with panels depicting the contributions to the war effort by local people, and a new sculpture by Andrew Tebbs, artist, sculptor, stone mason and filmmaker of Nottingham. Work was due to be completed by September 2018. In addition to funding by Bolsover District Council the project was sponsored by Clowne Parish Council, Aldi Stores, Ben Bailey Homes, Edge Development, Penny Hydraulics Ltd and Lafarge Tarmac Ltd.

28th October, 2018: The garden was officially opened and dedicated.
