Location details:
The church is on the east side of the road in the centre of the village. The memorial is against the eastern boundary wall near the east end of the church.

Location details:
The mission church was located behind the Prince of Wales public house at the junction of Barbers Row with Sheffield Rd (A6135) between Barlborough and Renishaw.
Type
Overall type: Tablet Overall condition: Fair. The inscription is legible.


Description:

A white marble tablet on a plain sandstone base. The tablet has a steeply raked pediment at the head containing the inscription at the centre and surmounted by a cornice containing repeated acanthus leaves. The lower part has a pointed arch with sprays of flowers in relief at each side and supported by capitals also bearing flowers. In the centre of the arch is a plain panel bearing the names. The inscription and names are incised in upright capital block lettering.

History and Conservation
c1921: The memorial was originally provided at Barbers Row Mission Church.

20th October, 1921: The memorial was unveiled by Ven Edmond Crosse, Archdeacon of Chesterfield.

1944: The Mission Church was demolished and the memorial was placed in the porch of St James the Greater Church.

26th August, 1965: The church was listed Grade II*, Heritage List for England number 1335412.

1st February, 1972: The Barlborough Conservation Area was designated. The memorial lies within it.

Unknown date: The memorial was removed from the church and erected in the churchyard.

10th October, 2012: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in fair condition.
