Location details:
The plaque was inside on the east wall. The church was on the south side of Chatsworth Rd, approximately where the junction of Walton Fields Rd is now.

Overall type: Plaque. Overall condition: Good. The inscription is legible and the memorial is cared for.


Description:

A nowy-headed brass plaque on a wooden backboard. The plaque has a pointed arch top, rounded shoulders and a broad double line border containing a continuous foliated motif. At the head is a king's crown above a pair of crossed coloured union flags overlain by a wreath. The incised inscription is mainly in black sentence case gothic lettering with rubricated initials and the names are arranged in two columns in black upright capital block lettering. The wooden backboard repeats the overall shape of the plaque.

History and Conservation
11th April, 1920: The plaque was unveiled in the Brampton Congregational Church by Ald W H Edmunds, mayor Chesterfield.

c1969: The congregational church was demolished. The plaque was still on the wall during demolition and must have been salvaged quite late in the process.

Unknown date: The memorial was re-erected in Rose Hill United Reform Church.

15th July, 1971: The church was listed Grade II, Heritage List for England number 1334706.

November, 1976: The building lies within the Chesterfield Town Centre Conservation Area first designated on this date.

19th December, 2019: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in good condition and cared for.
