Description:
A wide trefoil stained glass window with a straight cill.
The upper part, comprising the apex and shoulders, has blue and red bands forming the margins with a blue and red boss at the centre. Three oval panels extend from the boss forming a trefoil, tinted pink. The intervening panels are shaded in blue, pale at the head, becoming darker at the shoulders and bearing the dedication in upright capital lettering with selected initials in gold, and with a small gold formy cross at the head and to each side.
The lower part is approximately square and has a narrow green margin. At the upper centre is a circular panel bearing a portrait of the deceased, with oblong panels to each side bearing the memorial inscription in upright capital black lettering. At the foot is an illustration of MV British Security. This lower panel is also tinted blue.

cMay, 1947: The memorial was unveiled.
26th September, 1977: The church was listed Grade II, Historic England list number 1088305.
November, 1977: The Old Whittington Conservation Area was first designated and the church lies within it.
4th April, 2023: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in good condition. |
