Description:

A freestanding Longcliffe limestone tablet modelled on the design of a CWGC headstone with a shallow arch top, the badge of Wirksworth Town Council in relief in a cartouche at the head and an incised inscription in upright capital roman lettering.

History and Conservation
c2018: The tablet was made from Longcliffe stone, the nearest that is currently available to the Hoptonwood stone used for the original war grave headstones.

11th November, 2018: The tablet was loaded onto a train at the Middleton terminus of the Steeple Grange Light Railway and transported down the line to Steeplehouse where it was transferred to a horse drawn gun carriage and taken to the Church of St Mary for the remembrance service, and afterwards to the Memorial Gardens where is was set in place and dedicated.

30th June, 2019: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson. It was in fair condition.
