Location details:
The church is on the east side of Mapleton Rd near the junction with Yerley Hill. The plaque is inside, on the north wall of the nave by the pulpit.
Mapleton Rd is also known as Ashbourne Rd. The village name is pronounced Mappleton and is so spelt on some modern maps but historically it was spelt Mapleton. No road names are given on Ordnance Survey maps and those used may not have been formally designated.

Overall type: Plaque Overall condition: Fair. The inscription is legible and the memorial is cared for.


Description:

An upright oblong plaque on a black backboard. The metal plaque has a coloured family coat of arms incised at the head surmounted by a lion and a griffon, and an inscription incised in upright capital roman lettering coloured black. The oblong backboard is of black stone.

26th September, 2019: The memorial was recorded by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in fair condition and cared for.
