Overall condition: Fair. The inscription is legible.
|
Description:
A stone and tile building used as a village hall and social institute with an oblong stone tablet set into the west gable bearing the name incised in upright capital letters within an oval panel and with sprays of flowers in relief in the corners. The building contains an oblong white marble tablet commemorating WW1. The nowy headed tablet has a moulded cornice with dentiles and a wreath, crown and cross in relief at the head. The inscription is in mixed styles of mainly upright capital lettering with names in three columns. A further moulded cornice is located at the foot. The tablet is mounted on a backboard with a moulded frame around it. A WW2 commemoration was added in 2012 but no details of it are currently available.

17th April, 1951: The hall lies in the Peak District National Park designated on that date.
27th July 2016: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in fair condition.
