Description:
A sandstone monument comprising a pillar, with a lantern and cross at the head, surmounting a pedestal, plinth and base. The tapered octagonal pillar has a carved interwoven decoration on the 6 o'clock face and supports a four-sided lantern with a carved angel or saint in a niche on each face, and surmounted by a crocketed cross. The pillar is on an octagonal pedestal with a bevelled top and inscriptions on some faces, above a moulded plinth and octagonal ashlar base. The inscriptions are incised in upright capital roman lettering but are eroded and partially encrusted by lichen so are very difficult to read. The whole is set in a paved area within a fenced garden laid to lawn with trees.
