Description:
A traditional temporary well dressing tableau made from flowers and other vegetation pressed into clay held in a wooden frame. The dressing comprised a segmental pediment over a frieze with two finials above a central panel with smaller surrounding panels. The image extended over the entire surface and comprised a scene with infantrymen at the centre advancing past battlefield grave markers, with shattered trees to each side, dark birds flying overhead, a ruined building ahead and a profuse growth of red poppies in the foreground. The names were on a recessed panel under the frieze and the inscriptions and namelist were in black upright capital lettering.
The well dressing was displayed from 19th to 28th July 2014 and was subsequently dismantled.
