Location details:
Towards the southern corner of the compartment, about six rows north from the side path.

Overall type: Vase Overall condition: Fair. The vase is intact but is discoloured.


Description:

A truncated pyramidical vase on a square base accompanying a CWGC headstone on a family grave. The stone vase has an inscription inlaid in upright capital block lettering. The grave also has oblong white marble kerbs with battered external faces bearing further family inscriptions.

11th January, 2022: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in poor condition.

Comments
Although the casualty is recorded by CWGC as Spr 14223896 George Frederick Upton, this is his CWGC War Grave so the headstone is not classified as a war memorial according to the definition adopted by most heritage organisations, but the vase, being removeable, is.
