Location details:
About two-thirds of the way towards the northern end of the compartment and against the western boundary fence.
Type
Overall type: Addition to gravestone Overall condition: Fair. The gravestones are intact and the inscription is legible.


Description:

A white marble headstone and base on a family grave. The low oblong headstone has a flat top with a stepped left shoulder, and has an inlaid inscription in upright capital roman lettering. The plain oblong base has a circular hole at the centre for the placement of tributes and supports a separate cubic white limestone vase bearing a further family inscription in similar lettering.

25th January, 2022: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in Fair condition.

Comments
The casualty is recorded by CWGC as Pte 7889398 Herbert Hickton of 1/5th Battn, Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment. Alan Hickton died locally during peacetime and is buried in this grave.
