History and Conservation
Unknown date: The stone was extracted from a quarry near Ramsbottom and worked for the Department for Communities and Local Government who supplied it to Derby City Council
12th March 2015: The memorial was unveiled by the Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire, Mr William Tucker, and the Mayor of Derby, Cllr Shiraz Khan, at a stone laying ceremony. They were supported by Lt Col Nick Turner of the Mercian Regiment, relatives of Pte Rivers and veterans The ceremony was attended by members of the public. The fixing was finalised by Derby City Council staff. The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson.
