Overall type: Tablet. Overall condition: Fair. The inscription is legible and the memorial is cared for.


Description:

Originally a tree accompanied by a tablet. The tree is now lost but the freestanding oblong sandstone tablet remains. It has rounded shoulders, roughly dressed top and sides and a dressed face bearing the incised inscription in upright capital lettering coloured black.

History and Conservation
1985: The memorial was made by Parsons Memorials, monumental masons of Normanton Rd, Derby, and erected by the Derby and District Far East Prisoners of War Association.

30th January, 2008: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson. The tree could not be found but the tablet was in fair condition.

24th August, 2019: The memorial was revisited by Roy Branson. It was in fair condition and cared for.
