Description:
Reportedly a Hopton Limestone* Cross on a pedestal, plinth and base, with three plaques bearing inscriptions and names. The 6 o'clock face of the wheel, cross and the top two-thirds of the shaft have bosses, roundals and intertwined snakes carved in relief in the Celtic or Anglo-Saxon style. The cross surmounts an oblong pedestal with curved battered faces and a stepped top with rounded arrises, which in turn surmounts a square plinth with vertical faces, and the whole surmounts an oblong base. The 6 o'clock face of the plinth bears a cavo-relievo inscription in upright capital block lettering and three faces of the pedestal bear bronze plaques with inscriptions and names in upright capital roman raised lettering.
