Description:

A temporary Derbyshire well dressing display traditionally made from flowers and other vegetation pressed into clay held in a wooden frame but now often utilising stones, beads, fabric etc. The dressing comprised three adjacent panels, the main central one being slightly recessed, all surmounted by a triangular pediment.  The central panel featured the Union Flag and the flag of post-war Germany with parts of the Italian and French flags visible between them. In the foreground were two soldiers, one in khaki uniform and one in grey. In the background three white doves flew against a white background with the blue Earth behind them. The pediment and the two side panels had green backgrounds with coloured flowers and the inscriptions were in yellow and white upright capital lettering.

History and Conservation
Spring and Summer 1995: The memorial was designed and made by members of the local community.

Summer, 1995: The memorial was blessed by the local clergy and photographed by Glyn Williams. After the,period of the display the dressing was dismantled and components salvaged for future use.

The memorial was within the Peak District National Park (designated on17th April, 1951) and the Bamford Conservation Area (designated on 18th October, 1996).
