Overall condition: Fair. The inscription is legible.
|
Description:
An oblong white marble tablet with a reverse-curve top and a badge of the Sherwood Foresters Regiment in relief at the head. The inscription is incised in upright capital block lettering coloured black. The tablet is mounted on a plain oblong backboard with a very smooth black finish having no texture or characteristics to identify whether it is marble, slate or even wood.

BURIED AT ST CHRIST ON THE SOMME. ALSO OF ERIC WILLIAM PARKER STAMPER. C.Q.M.S. 2/5TH SHERWOOD FORESTERS. DIED AT STONEBROOM VICARAGE NOVEMBER 7TH 1918. AGED 27 YEARS.
