Description:
A temporary Derbyshire well dressing display traditionally made from flowers and other vegetation pressed into clay held in a wooden frame but now often utilising stones, beads, fabric etc. The dressing comprised a main square panel flanked by a pair of upright oblong panels with rounded tops mounted in the rear wall of a gabled shelter. The central panel contained a perspective image, in browns, greys and creams, of the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing; and the two flanking panels bore silhouettes of service personnel with reversed arms. The shelter also contained a board bearing the names of those from the area who died in both world wars. The whole shelter was draped in green foliage and contained a symbolic wall of sandbags.
