Description:

A temporary Derbyshire well dressing display traditionally made from flowers and other vegetation pressed into clay held in a wooden frame but now often utilising stones, beads, fabric etc. The dressing comprised a triptych in a gabled shelter with the central panel containing a depiction of the parable of the good Samaritan. The two side walls were covered with sprays of green foliage each bearing a recessed black roundel depicting a white dove of peace with oblong panels above and below bearing the inscription in white capital block lettering, that on the left for VE Day, that on the right for VJ Day.

History and Conservation
Spring and Summer 1995: The memorial was designed and made by members of the local community.

August, 1995: The memorial was blessed by members of the local clergy and photographed by Glyn Williams. After the period of the display the dressing was dismantled and components salvaged for future use.
