Overall condition: Fair. The inscription is legible.
|
Description:
An addition to a headstone on a family grave. The memorial comprises a battered granite headstone with a heavy pediment and base, accompanied by kerbs. The pediment has a reverse curved top and a motif of clasped hands in relief in a panel on the face. The face of the headstone has a narrow incised border and the inscription is incised in upright capital block lettering. The oblong base has a bevelled top and the oblong kerbs are chamfered.

ROYAL FUSILIERS SON OF ABOVE PRESUMED DEAD IN FRANCE MAY 3. 1915 AGED 19 YEARS. ALSO CATHERINE WIFE OF SAMUEL REPTON SHIRLAND DIED AUG. 6. 1906. AGED 55 YEARS. R.I.P.
